Reach Out and Read
The Wray Clinic is partnered with a non-profit organization called Reach Out and Read. This is a national pediatric early literacy program that trains doctors to advise parents about the importance of reading aloud to their children starting at an early age. Free developmentally appropriate books are provided to children at each well child check starting at 6 months and continuing through 5 years age. As of December 2008, we have given out a total of over 770 free books. We will be giving the patient a Raise a Reader literacy tote bag. The tote bag includes an age apporpriate book, a Born to Read bib, the hospital and library brochures, and literacy rich information.
The clinic has also recently put in a colorful reading corner, full of fun new books and comfortable kid friendly seating. Pictured at right enjoying the new corner are Kaitlyn Kramer, Matthew Jones, Kalyn King, Baylor Struckmeyer, Emily Richards and Ally Mermis.
The Wray Clinic has many caring physicians who see patients on a regular basis. Click here to read more about our physicans and their backgrounds.
